Cherry Park 10 Miler
the Goal was 3 laps of Prospect park at 10AM.
I arrived early to pick up my packed. It had snowed a few inches the night before and I was prepared with clothing, but the sun turned up and, although the route had spots of ice and snow, it was generally pretty warm and warmed up through the race. I almost wished I hadn't taken my outermost layer.
I started slowly, as I generally do, and it made me negative split again, but that's fine.
The real issue was my shoes. Around mile 6-7, a bit of the shoe had been digging into my foot and caused a blister. I didn't want to keep running on it, so I stuffed my running glove into it. It sort of cushioned my foot but caused my gait to be fucked up. I'm currently dealing with the strain injury. I'm hoping that rest will help, but I'm not sure yet.
Still, it was a reasonable finish and pace at 1:31/9:06 which is definitely not bad! a whole minute faster than my half pace!
I need to new shoes. I need to pick up biking. I want to sign up for 2 more races, including a marathon.
Then Tri's.
But first, injury. Rest. Stretch/PT.
