In Pursuit of Excellence

A repost of an old piece, but it resonates with me now. I am trying my best at the individual things, putting together the pieces of my life, and trying to not only achieve but excel. It is a challenge, every minute of every day. But I feel worthwhile of the effort.

A Highlight reading from the Fresh Cuts: Year of the Pig Open Mic. I truly hope that you are working on your things, and that you realize the reason I work so hard on Show+Tell is to give my friends space to showcase their arts. It’s been a blessing to see them progress, and I’m grateful I can be a part of their journeys.

Hey thanks. The performers: Amy, TB, Maddie, Izzy, Garrett, Jannika, Fozzy, Peter. Thanks Dan for the space and support. Rosie for being the best. All the attendees and artists. Just incredible. The support. The show. The love. Look for more, January in Philly, February and April back in NYC!

Just a privilege and a honor to share a stage I built with talented and beautiful friends; Jared Rosen, Toma, Kayla, Mike Robley, Calvin Smith, Garret Robinson Taylor Bradshaw, Blue Spruce, Alicyn Yaffee, Elijah Sokolow, Peter. I reflect on the night, highs and lows, speculate on some improvements, and have aspirations for the next one! November 17th!

Just sort of jotted down thoughts from the open mic, a mix of emotions and next steps. I loved what I created there, I want to continue to cultivate it, I need help with anything I listed, but regardless I’ll make it again and make it better.

Second Mardi Gras in 3 years. True, the holiday doesn't represent all of the city, but thanks to wonderful local friends, I was able to experience a more intimate, extravagant, and ultimately better time both for Mardi Gras and the city itself. I really loved this place and the time I spent there and the company I spent it with. Thanks Shaq, Mary-Lou, Henry et. all for the hospitality and love!

Despite the office dress code being much more lax than most people expect, any level of deviation from the perceived bar becomes quite socially controversial. I despise that, because the masses are self-censoring and it suffocates creativity. I rant about it.
