Painted a school for kids with physical and mental disabilities on Sunday morning with Valerie and Sebastian! It was hard work but I felt better doing the labor because I had done a few of these before and I like that growing process of learning. The school looked great with new coat of paint and Karen, the principal, was super nice and welcoming.

We spent 4 hours of the work day at FoodBank for New York City in Hunts Point in the Bronx. We sorted and packaged donated food with employees from an office in White Plains. It was good work, cool to be in another part of the city, and be grateful and give back during the holiday season.

Spent a few hours bowling with Special Olympians through the bank on a Monday night to have fun, build relationships, and generally enjoy each others company. It was a less effort [especially considering the great vibe of the room] but hopefully helpful in a small, immeasurable, but important way.

Back with Habitat at Jamaica for another bank volunteer event. We got to build the beams for a old house. We also saw the completed work of what we did for last time, a really humbling and inspiring experience. Biked to and from the event for a total of 31 miles

2 hours at Firebird Bookstore for Books Through Bars with the Harry Potter Alliance in New York City. It was interesting to read letters from a population I’ve had very little exposure to. It wasn’t the most fun, kind of isolating. I wish there were ways to help more. Maybe a book drive at the next open mic.

Music for Autism at the Kings Highway Public Library in Brooklyn. Spent 3 hours chaperoning and interacting with a few families to a duo Spanish guitar and cellist. Final event for the New Year's Resolution!

The office takes a trip to queens to work with Habitat for Humanity. We spend the entire workday Friday painting, putting up Sheetrock, and generally cleaning up a house that gets sold to veteran families for a dollar. I spent the day making mistakes and highly enjoying myself

The Farm was amazing this time. Got to eat some food, help in multiple different ways, be part of a farmers market, meet awesome people, made a difference. Also rants inside about race and life and doing it.
